During the Silo Painting Projects, The Foundations collaborated with a local operator to develop a Pop-Up market on each Sunday of the 2 month project.
Over the course of the project there were weekends were in excess of 1000 people attended th markets on the Sunday, drawing crowds from far and wide to the site.
This had a positive economic impact on the entire town with local food businesses being particluarly busy on t hese days.
The success of the markets and the opportunity to have an indoor space has led to the creation of a permanent market, which will be launching in July this year in the Boiler House building.
The market aims to bring local and regional home grown produce, artisans and craftspeople and stalls with unique appeal to Portland.
The Market will be held on the second Sunday of the month starting in July 2018.
For infomration on having a market stall please contact Kellie on 0429 001 918.
Throughout the project, there was also great interest in guided site tours through the historic buildings on the site. These tours will continue on each market unday from July and will be developed over time to give visitors a unique insight ni to what life may have been like working on the cement works site in it’s hey day.
